Not sure whether you want or need an engagement shoot? Here are some reasons why you might decided you want one...
Being snapped like a celebrity or a model doesn't come naturally for most of us, it can make us feel very awkward and this will show in your images! Having an engagement shoot can make you feel more at ease in front of the camera. It gives you and your partner a chance to learn how to interact with each other in front of the camera in a more natural way... in a way in which you would act together when you're alone. It is this style of image that you will probably want to see the most of. Natural and candid.
It also gives you a perfect opportunity to get to know your photographer too. There are so many talented photographers out there to pick from, so in some instances it may come down to how you vibe with them. What is their personally like and will it work with that of you and your partner?
It is also another opportunity to create more amazing memories! I know from personal experience that the wedding preparation, albeit stressful, can fly-by in no time, and before you know it, your big day has arrived. Why not make some memories along the way? Why shouldn't you have fun whilst planning? You will have more images of you and your loved one for the album!
You can have a good chat with your photographer and talk about your big day, your venue, your clothing or any special or quirky ideas. You can test out some ideas that you may have and see whether they would potentially work on your big day. Lets not forget, it is also an opportunity to ditch your photographer if you don't think things are going to work out between you and them!
